A fabulous 21 Year Old bottling from Glenfiddich, and as its name suggests this particular single malt was finished in casks used previously to age Caribbean rum for four months! Some cask influence in the form of tropical fruit and spicy ginger to be found in here.
Colour: deep copper. Nose: the rum expresses itself immediately. Golden syrup. Port. Seville orange marmalade. Dried apricots. Mango. Apples. Crme bržlŽe. A slight leathery note, but nothing more. Palate: Stewed apples, a sprinkling of ginger and cinnamon. Blood oranges. Pink grapefruit juice. A light texture, with just a hint of waxiness. Marzipan. Toffee. That bitter grapefruit returns for the finish. Oaky. Caramel. Very good balance between the sweet and the sour contrasts.
