This 22-year-old whisky has enticing aromas of creme brulee, sultana, bittersweet orange and cigar box, while the deliciously seductive palate has flavours of walnut, figgy pudding and wood spice, alongside a silky texture.
Nose: Sultanas, plump raisins, spiced sponge cake and candied orange peel, stewed apple, apple strudel and poached pear. Sugared almonds emerge, along with zesty lemon and a hint of fino sherry dryness.
Palate: Thick cream stirred through with mixed berries. Raisins and spice follow, balanced by a touch of bitter char and sour cherries. The spice becomes malt loaf, although sweetness is controlled. Rich and dark notes of fruit cake and black bread are joined by molasses and black liquorice.
Finish: Liquorice and spice fade to leave stewed apple, raisins and damp leaves.
